Sandpiper Cottage and Suites - About Us...........

Sandpiper Cottages and Suites is a small and friendly, family owned and operated business. Pat and Keith Notman acquired the business about 14 years ago and it has been a constant "work in progress" ever since. Right from the beginning, Penny jumped in to help out. Even though she was living in Summerside at the time, she came almost every weekend to do everything from clean cottages to paint the outside trim.

Since we opened in 1997, there have been a lot of changes, both at the Sandpiper and in the Stanhope area. Penny lives right around the corner with her husband Mitchell and our grandchildren, Taylor and Tanton (whom you are sure to meet playing around the Sandpiper) . She is the manager now, which really means she continues to love being here. Over the years we have added two superior cottages and have contiually renovated and upgraded the regular cottages and suites. Our property has matured beautifully and the pine trees that surround us are magnificent.

When you arrive for your holiday, you will be welcomed in to our front office to check in. We'll provide you with a check in package which explains everything you need to know about our property and the surrounding areas. The office is attached to our home at the front of the property and since we live here we're available the majority of the time. You'll want to take a look at Keith's model train set which now extends all the way around the office (even through the bathroom). Many of our guests spend a few hours of their holiday playing with Keith!

In recent years, the Stanhope area has become very popular - the community focus has been on eco-tourism and the new Stanhope Promenade is all part of that. It is a lovely biking and walking trail around Covehead Bay all the way to Stanhope Golf course on one end and into the National Park at the other. The National Park has added a cycling path that parallels the park road.

We are fortunate to have some great restaurants in our area. Within a short drive there are several family restaurants including Millstream Restaurant & Dairy Bar and the Lobster Claw. As well there are some lovely upscale dining establishments close by. Stanhope Beach Resort, just around the corner from us, has a full restaurant as well as a less formal bar serving roadhouse style meals. For fine dining, restaurants near by include Dalvay by the Sea, The Dunes Cafe and Shaw's Hotel.
